DNV GL has announced the appointment of Ms. Nathalie Sykora, Vice-President, Global Fleet Management at CSL Group as Chairperson of the DNV GL North American Committee. Sykora succeeds Thomas Paterson, Senior Vice President, Ship Owning, Arctic and Projects at Fednav, who has led the committee since 2014.
“The input garnered from this committee is important to improve the relevance and quality of our services, as well as to strengthening the impact of DNV GL’s research and innovation for the marketplace. With her focus on reliability and innovation throughout her career, Nathalie brings tremendous knowledge and energy to the work of this important industry committee, and we welcome her leadership,” commented Knut Orbeck-Nielsen, President and CEO of DNV GL Maritime.
Nathalie Sykora joined CSL in 1998 as Project Engineering Assistant on the Forebodies Project team and has held roles of increasing responsibility in engineering, corporate planning, and operations throughout her tenure. She was appointed Vice-President, Global Technical Services in 2014 and Vice-President, Technical Operations and Environment for the Canada Steamship Lines fleet in 2016. In January 2017, Sykora took on her current role leading technical operations on CSL's global fleet, where she leads efforts to increase safety, reliability and promote innovation, in addition to managing the company’s long term asset planning. Nathalie received her Bachelor’s degrees in Industrial Engineering from the Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, a masters certificate in project management and completed several executive management courses achieving alumni status of Harvard Business School in Boston, MA in 2017.
DNV GL North American committee members hail from across the continent and bring immense operational experience for both ocean-going fleets, as well as to the unique set of requirements relevant to The Great Lakes. The strategic perspectives of the members are critical for prioritizing DNV GL’s improvement efforts and for guiding the development of the class rules.
